Magnification and Microscope Enhanced Dentistry
"You Can't Treat Properly What You Can't See" is very true when it comes to dental care. For years we have used magnification to allow us to diagnose dental problems and to see in greater detail the restorations we are providing.
The Orascoptic Research Thru-the-Lens Telescopes I use let me see teeth five times their normal size.
In November of 2006, we added a ProErgo Dental Operating Microscope by the Carl Zeiss Company. This same company makes surgical microscopes that are used in hospitals all over the world.
Equipped with a digital camera and a three chip color Sony Video camera we can document and record any dental procedure.
Our ProErgo has a variable zoom that adjusts magnification up to 22 times the normal size of the tooth. This is invaluable in finding things like cracks in teeth not visible to the naked eye.
While not all procedures require this level of magnification, being able to see, evaluate, and treat at higher levels will allow us to further "raise the bar" on the quality of care we can provide.
