Payment Options

For your convenience, we accept cash, personal checks, money orders and major credit cards including, Visa, Mastercard & Amex.  Payment is expected at the time services are performed. When more extensive dental care is necessary, financial arrangements can be made with our office.

As a service to our patients, our practice accepts most dental insurance programs, including non-managed care and PPO out-of-network.  We are A Delta Dental Provider as well as a Cigna PPO provider. Our accounting staff will prepare all the necessary forms for your dental benefits. However, we remind you that your specific policy is an agreement between you and your insurance company. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for your total obligation should your insurance benefits result in less coverage than anticipated. Our staff will gladly submit a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance company so that you will know what your benefits will be.

The fees charged for services rendered to those who are insured are the usual and customary fees charged to all our patients for similar services. Your policy may base its allowances on a fixed fee schedule, which may or may not coincide with fees normally charged by the dental professional. You should be aware that different insurance companies vary greatly in the types of coverage available. Also, some companies take care of claims promptly while others delay payment for several months.

Understanding Your Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company.

Insurance companies will not release the exact amount they will pay for a procedure until the treatment is completed and claim is submitted. They will only give a percentage.

We are seeing more and more instances where the insurance companies give a dollar amount on a predetermination of benefits only to pay less than that amount once the claim is processed.

Many insurance companies say they reimburse “up to 80% of the total fees.” Actually, we have found that most plans cover 40%- 50% of average fees.

UCR-Usual, Customary or Reasonable, used by the insurance company, is an amount that the insurance company chooses to pay for each procedure. It is not based on the average charge of practicing dentists in our area, it is only an allowable amount based on the quality of the plan purchased.

Dental insurance is not meant to cover all procedures and fees. It is to be an aid for the insurance holder.
